The basic ethical principles that officers, players, coaches, and others must follow.

This Code exists so that everyone connected with Pickleball Japan Federation (hereafter, “the Federation”) recognizes the high ethical standards and social responsibility expected in sport, and acts fairly and with integrity.
This Code applies to the Federation’s officers and staff, registered players, coaches, referees, staff of affiliated organizations, and anyone else involved with the Federation (hereafter, “those covered by this Code”).
Those covered by this Code shall respect the fundamental human rights of all people, and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation, social status, or any other ground.
Those covered by this Code shall not engage in any form of harassment that undermines another person’s dignity, including power harassment, sexual harassment, discriminatory speech or conduct, or bullying.
Those covered by this Code shall not engage in any conduct that undermines the fairness of sport (match-fixing, doping, biased officiating, violence, etc.), and shall always act with integrity.
The Federation places importance on the healthy development of minors, and shall ensure their safety and peace of mind, giving appropriate consideration in coaching and training.
Those covered by this Code shall have no relationship whatsoever with anti-social forces, and acts such as solicitation, granting of favors, or provision of funds to such forces are also prohibited.
Those covered by this Code shall respect the spirit and rules of pickleball, and shall treat opposing players, referees, and spectators with courtesy.
Everyone covered by this Code shall promote fair play, avoid an excessive focus on winning, and value personal growth and mutual understanding through sport.
Any physical or psychological violence and corporal punishment in coaching players is strictly prohibited. Violations will be dealt with severely.
In operating the Federation, we place importance on transparency in decision-making and accountability, and ensure fair governance.
Officers and other those covered by this Code shall not use their position to benefit themselves or a third party.
To ensure that personal and confidential information learned in the course of work is handled appropriately, the Federation requires everyone engaged in its work (including directors, staff, volunteers, and contractors) to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Under this agreement, those bound by it must not disclose any confidential information learned through their work to third parties, whether during their time with the Federation or after leaving it. In the event of a violation, the Federation may take legal action as necessary.
The Federation shall establish a point of contact for reports of ethics violations, and put in place a system to protect whistleblowers from disadvantage.
Anyone found to have violated this Code shall be investigated, and disciplinary action taken as necessary.
This Code may be reviewed and revised, subject to a resolution of the Board of Directors, in response to changes in society or the sporting environment.
This Code took effect in June 2023.
