Chapter 1 – General Provisions

Article 1 (Purpose)

This Policy exists to promote anti-doping activities in pickleball and to ensure a clean, fair competitive environment. In line with the World Anti-Doping Code (hereafter, “the WADA Code”) and the Japan Anti-Doping Code (hereafter, “the JADA Code”), it sets out how those covered by this Policy shall prevent doping and respond appropriately to violations.

Article 2 (Scope)

This Policy applies to players registered with the Federation, coaches, team staff, officers, and anyone else involved in the Federation’s competitive activities (hereafter, “those covered by this Policy”).

Article 3 (Definitions)

“Doping” under this Policy refers to doping as defined by WADA and JADA.

Chapter 2 – Anti-Doping Activities

Article 4 (Prohibition of Doping)

Those covered by this Policy shall not engage in any doping-related conduct, including the use, possession, provision, solicitation, or concealment of prohibited substances or methods. Violations of this Policy will be treated strictly.

Article 5 (Education and Awareness)

The Federation shall regularly conduct education and awareness activities on anti-doping for those covered by this Policy. National team players in particular may be required to complete JADA’s e-learning courses and similar programs.

Article 6 (Therapeutic Use Exemptions, or TUEs)

Where a prohibited substance or method is needed for treatment, those covered by this Policy must receive approval through the prescribed procedure under JADA’s Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) rules.

Chapter 3 – Testing and Procedures

Article 7 (Obligation to Undergo Doping Tests)

Players must cooperate fully with doping tests conducted by the Federation, JADA, or WADA, whether in or out of competition. Refusing or obstructing a test is considered a serious violation of this Policy.

Article 8 (Sample Collection and Analysis)

Samples shall be collected and analyzed by an appropriate body designated by JADA, in accordance with WADA’s international standards.

Article 9 (Notification of Results and Follow-Up)

JADA and the Federation shall work together to promptly notify the individual concerned of test results and take any necessary follow-up action.

Chapter 4 – Violations and Sanctions

Article 10 (Determination of Violations and Procedure)

Where a violation of this Policy is found, the Federation shall confirm the facts and deliberate on sanctions in accordance with procedures set by JADA.

Article 11 (Sanctions)

Anyone found to have committed a violation may be subject to sanctions such as suspension from competition, loss of eligibility, or disqualification of results, in accordance with JADA or WADA guidelines.

Article 12 (Public Disclosure of Violations)

Where a doping violation is confirmed, the Federation shall disclose the details and an outline of the sanction, including via its official website, as necessary.

Chapter 5 – Supplementary Provisions

Article 13 (Review of This Policy)

This Policy shall be reviewed and revised as necessary, in response to amendments to the WADA or JADA codes, or to changes in circumstances.

Article 14 (Effective Date)

This Policy took effect on January 1, 2025.
